  • Refined flour 1 cup

  • Cocoa powder

  • Cornflour/ corn starch 1/4 cup

  • Baking soda 1 teaspoon

  • Salt 1/2 teaspoon

  • Cinnamon powder 1 teaspoon

  • Cocoa powder 3 tablespoons

  • Castor sugar (caster sugar) 1 cup

  • Vanilla essence 1 teaspoon

  • Vinegar 1 tablespoon

  • For frosting

  • Icing sugar 1 cup

  • Cinnamon powder 1 teaspoon

  • Honey 1 tablespoon

  • Cocoa powder 2 tablespoons

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

Method


Step 1

Preheat oven to 180°C.

Step 2

Grease a square cake tin and lightly dust with dry flour. Place a sieve over a bowl and put refined flour, cornstarch, baking soda, salt, cinnamon powder, cocoa powder and sift. Mix well.

Add castor sugar and mix. Add 1 cup chilled water and mix. Add vanilla essence and mix well with a hand blender. Add vinegar and blend some more. Pour the batter into the prepared tin and bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes. When done, take the t

For the frosting mix icing sugar, cinnamon powder, cocoa powder, honey and 2 tbsps water in a bowl and mix well. Heat oil in a non stick pan, add the icing sugar mixture and cook on medium heat till sugar melts completely. Cool it.

Step 5

Place the cake over foil and trim the sides of the cake. Pour the frosting over the cake and let it slide over the sides. If you like you can level the frosting over the sides with a palate knife.

Step 6

Keep in the refrigerator to set. Cut into slices and serve.

Method


Step 1

Trim the hard crust of the cake. Slice the cake into half.

Step 2

Take a medium square card covered with aluminum foil. Spread a bit of ganache over it and place a cake slice over it. The ganache will ensure that the cake remains firm on the card. Drizzle some sugar syrup to keep the cake moist. Drizzle some chocolate sauce over the slice. Spread a portion of chocolate ganache evenly. Place the second slice of cake and repeat the process.

Step 3

Trim the top hard part of the cake all around.

Cover the top and sides of the cake with some chocolate ganache. Dip palate knife in hot water and even out the chocolate ganache layer.

Step 5

Mix some ganache with ½ cup whipped cream. Fill this mixture into a piping bag fitted with nozzle. Fill remaining whipped cream into another piping bag fitted with a nozzle.

Step 6

Pipe out flowers with the ganache-cream mixture and the whipped cream all over the cake to decorate it.

  • Digestive biscuits 800 grams

Method

Step 1

Add one cup water gradually and mix well.Add butter, reduce heat and boil for seven to eight minutes, stirring continuously. Remove from heat and add vanilla essence. Mix well and set aside to cool slightly.

Step 3

Pour the prepared chocolate syrup over the biscuits-nut mixture and mix well. Transfer the mixture into a 9 inch non-stick round cake tin.Press well to even the surface. Cover and refrigerate for one hour.

To prepare chocolate ganache, bring the cream to a boil in a non-stick pan. Keep the chocolate in a bowl, pour hot cream over it and mix till smooth.

Step 5

Pour ganache over the chocolate biscuit cake and refrigerate till fully set.

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease an eight-inch round cake tin with the butter.

Sift the refined flour and baking powder together. Set aside.

Cream the butter and sugar together till light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one by one, beating well till the mixture becomes light. Add the vanilla essence and mix well.

Step 4

Fold in the refined flour, adding it in batches. Add the milk and mix well.

Mix the cocoa powder and oil together to make a smooth paste.

Step 6

Dust the chocolate chips and the walnuts with one tablespoon of flour.

Step 7

Add the cocoa powder paste, chocolate chips-walnuts to the batter and fold.

Step 8

Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for fifty to fifty-five minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool on a wire rack.

Step 10

Cut into slices and serve.
