How to make Cherry Halwa - A rich halwa of semolina, khoya, almonds, pistachios, cashewnuts flavoured generously with cherries.

Ingredients for Cherry Halwa Recipe

  • Cherries pitted 500 grams

  • Ghee 2 tablespoons

  • Semolina (rawa/suji) 2 tablespoons

  • Sugar 3 tablespoons

  • Khoya/mawa grated 4 tablespoons

  • Almonds chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Pistachios chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Cashewnuts chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Green cardamom powder a pinch

  • Rose syrup 3 tablespoons + for garnishing

Method

Step 1

Heat ghee in a non-stick pan. Add semolina and sauté till light brown.

Step 2

Add cherries, mix well and cook till cherries are soft and pulpy.

Step 3

Add sugar, khoya, almonds, pistachios, cashewnuts, cardamom powder and rose syrup. Mix well and cook for 3-4 minutes.

Step 4

Serve hot garnished with rose syrup and pistachios.
